Our journey began with a simple love for Texas history, a thirst for knowledge, and metal detecting, which evolved into a lifelong mission to preserve and share the stories of the past. We have been all over the Great State of Texas and we have seen so much that most people have never knew existed, and along the way, we even learned secrets of finding caches of buried treasure.

Our team has spent decades in our quest for clues and leads to hidden places and things, including gold and silver riches. We aim to make Texas history accessible to everyone who is interested. We have obtained materials from a variety of sources, including libraries, private collections, and online databases. We have compiled thousands of maps and documents into a digital format that is easy to use and available to all. It would take years to gather all of the information on our flashdrives. We know, because it did take many years.

  • Another Client: I metal detect. And I love history. I got this flashdrive and I can’t even begin to express how impressed I am with all of the information on here. Sure, IF I knew where to go and how to get them I might be able to get all of the information that is on these flashddrives, but I cannot imaging how many hours of downloading I would have to do to get all of this. The 1940 Census Maps….. I didn’t even realize existed. And they show where the old schools and churches and cemeteries (I know, I know, don’t search cemeteries, and I don’t, BUT the areas around the cemetery are fair game because back in the 1800’s they would gather for a whole day and had to park their wagons somewhere. There is more information on this drive than I can find in a decade. And I love being able to search those books…..thanks guys!

  • Another Client: I have just recently started metal detecting. I have just been going to parks and schools near me, and there is just so much trash. I keep hearing about what it was like in the “old days”, when silver was abundant. Well, after 6 months I had only found one silver dime, and there just seems to be so much competition in the Dallas area where I live. THAT has now officially changed. I had not thought of or realized that all I had to do was find some place in the country where all of the people in Dallas don’t go, and I actually learned how to knock on doors. Sure enough, after gathering the courage to do just that out in the country where a census map showed me a church was (it is no longer there), today I found 3 silver coins, a mercury dime, a Standing Liberty Quarter and a Washington Quarter as well.   • Another client: Knowledge is so important when you learn history. Wynsar has provided a one of a kind library source of thousands of maps and books that I can look for whatever I want to learn about today. I was one of the first to get Dennis Wynne’s book 2700 Historical Sites Across Texas….. there is so much in there it is amazing to learn about new places. I understand that it is being rewritten and will be broken down into 4 volumes instead of that 1,253 page monster book. When it comes back to print, I will have all four volumes!

  • Another client: I own a ranch in North Texas that dates back to the mid 1800’s. I had this stranger knock on my door several years ago and ask permission to metal detect an old historical site on our ranch. It was Dennis Wynne and a friend of his. I had allowed a couple of people to metal detect my property before and I kind of chuckled to myself when this man and friend showed up, but I let them metal detect my property. Nobody else had ever found much of anything. My jaw dropped when they shared the things they had found…. A civil war buckle, an 1836 half dime, an 1841 penny that was huge, and old silver ring Dennis said was from a coin, and it was for my Great Great Grandmother I am sure. The also found bullets and a lot of iron things. Even an old branding iron was found. I had told them they could keep whatever they found, but Dennis was thrilled with my excitement over that belt buckle from the civil war and gave it to me. What a treasure!   • Another Client: We knew we had some old homesites on our land, but we couldn’t figure where they were at. Wynsar people came out and did some flyovers with a special camera on the drone and after a few days came back and provided me with some images that showed the outlines of several buildings that were in a field. Amazing technology and now we know where they are at.
